The Arnie’s Awards Evening 2016

Everyone had a great evening on Monday 8th February as we held another Arnie’s Award Evening. This event recognises individual and team effort within the group, and allows the teams to let their hair down and celebrate.

Here is what Caroline thought of the evening:

For Darran and I to make the decision to close all three pubs and bring you all together was not a problem as we know the benefits outweigh the losses for one night a year.
It’s a proud moment to see you all in the same room, from those who have just joined to those we have worked along side us for years. When we look back we have achieved some amazing goals, had highs and lows but all along grow in knowledge, courage and ambition all together.

 

Again I would like to show our thanks to,

Brian, John and Rob for helping move car’s, furniture, equipment, food and drinks.

Neil and Sophie who really helped prepare all the food that night.

Brian for taking photos throughout the evening and especially getting pictures of all the teams in groups!!

Gilly, Josie & Gareth for all your help in organising the closures of the pubs, helping with the awards and organising (most important) the “alcohol”

Paul and Gill for so very kindly giving us the venue to hold this event, this is Paul’s working office and also where he store his racing cars so all that is cleared away for us. Along with Paul doing a fantastic play list of music to dance too!

 

In my true Mumma Lingley way you are all winners and are all the best!! I do hope however that the following people are proud to be acknowledged…

Star in the Bar – this is for going above and beyond for their teams and to customers and giving 100% to each shift they work.
Alex, Annabel, Casey and Megan

Star Chef – this person went from a kitchen porter to learning the skills in the main kitchen as a chef, is very keen and super reliable.
Luke

Can do – this is for always doing as asked, coming up with ideas or solutions and putting them into practise quickly and without fuss.

Innovation – this is for coming up with an idea to create more business, more awareness to the public of what we do, improving systems and streamlining the business.
George, Edward and Eddy

The Brick – this is for always being reliable, unknowingly improving and assisting other in their roles, being happy and cheerful. Always giving to others.

100% – this is for giving 100% into their role, being reliable, honest, trustworthy, upbeat and happy, committed, open minded, determined and a pleasure to work with.

Long service – working along side us for a significant time, helping us to grow the business, showing commitment and passion to our goals.

I really look forward to the coming year and all that it brings, mainly to continue to work alongside such an amazing group of people who inspire us to keep doing what we do, yes it’s a challenge at times but then who ever said it was going to be easy?!!
Lastly, thanks for for the beautiful flowers you gave Darran and I, it really did mean a lot.

We are the Best Employers in Hospitality in the UK!

The Saint Arnold Group of pubs has just won the title of Best Small Group Pubs & Bars Employer in the UK at the Best Employers in Hospitality event run by Caterer.com at The Lancaster in London.

Neil Pattison, Sales Director of Caterer.com, commented on why it matters to be a best employer as the UK economy continues to improve:

“The best employers understand how much employee engagement matters and why. They genuinely consider their employees and work hard to develop and motivate them, and this is reflected in their customer satisfaction levels, employee retention and overall business success.”

Owners Darran & Caroline Lingley collected the award on behalf of the group.

Saint Arnold Group is ninth in the country!

The Saint Arnold Group, which runs the Five Bells, Colne Engaine, The Lion, Earls Colne and The Griffin, Halstead have come 9th overall in the prestigious Best Employers in Hospitality Awards 2014.

Beating off stiff competition in this sector, our staff showed that we make their jobs as enjoyable and satisfying as possible.

Hundreds of employers entered the awards and almost 9,000 employees completed the survey, with 60 employers gaining an engagement score high enough to allow them into the Top 60 Best Employers in Hospitality 2014.

“Everyone knows that the hospitality industry has unique pressures such as a young workforce, high staff turnover, awkward shift patterns and a pressurised atmosphere but the survey results show that the shortlisted employers are doing something tangible to make it a more attractive, rewarding and engaging career,”

Tom Denham, Managing Director of People Insight explained.

“Indeed, we’ve found strong evidence to show that the hospitality sector is a great option if you want to develop your career, be recognised for your achievements, and enjoy your job at the same time.

All of these are key drivers of engagement; meaning employers need to focus on them to give them the best chance of retaining a loyal, productive workforce who go the extra mile in their day to day roles. Everyone on the shortlist has shown that the hospitality sector is on an upward curve.”

Having come 24th in 2012 we are really pleased that our efforts to improve conditions for our teams are showing real improvement.

 

Highly Commended in the Business Excellence Awards 2014

After a great night with a great bunch of other businesses at Prested Hall last night we were given a highly commended certificate for our entry in the Best Business for Marketing category. A great team effort and we were very pleased to be in the finals against other businesses that all had great customer service reputations.

We won’t stop there though, this has just given us more ideas and a hunger to do even better in future.
